The number of female radiologists has been slowly climbing over the years, and yet women only account for about 26.5 percent of practicing radiologists in the U.S.1,2 The number of women in radiology leadership positions, such as a managing partner, chair, or executive committee member, is even lower at just 13 percent.3 Imaging Technology News (ITN) recently spoke with Lisa Adams, CEO of Radiology Imaging Associates (RA) in Daytona Beach, Florida and the newly elected president of the Florida Radiology Business Management Association (FRBMA), about her career path, the increase of women in radiology leadership roles, and how participation in […]
The medical staff at Washington Health System—physicians, nurses, and technologists alike—take great pride in the care they deliver to their patients. The leadership team sought improvements and technological advancements that would evolve their care delivery and would help them to be even more forward-thinking. Washington Health System (WHS) is based in Washington, PA, a short drive south from Pittsburgh. In addition to the main hospital, they have five outpatient satellite facilities with imaging and a smaller hospital 25 minutes south. When it came time to search for a new information system provider, a vendor search team was formed that included […]
Andrew Krecek is hard-wired to solve problems. An electrical engineer by trade, he spent about a dozen years in software development, writing complex software for advanced process control systems like chemical reactors and did numerous projects for the pharmaceutical industry. During that time, the integration between information systems and control systems began to happen. That’s when Krecek discovered he really enjoyed the IT component of his work. In one position, he worked for a company that provided onsite clinical services for many large self-insured organizations such as Continental Airlines. He was also a consultant for several years, working on diverse […]
The end of the year is always an exciting time to work in enterprise imaging. RSNA, the biggest radiology tradeshow of the year, kicks off right after the last turkey day football game ends. Then, in the blink of an eye, the holidays and year are coming to an end, and you’re envisioning what new technology innovations the next calendar year will bring; Will 2021 be the year of remote reading? Will artificial intelligence (AI) become a new collaborative partner to radiologist workflow? Will imaging interoperability finally become a universal reality? At Fujifilm, some of our greatest enterprise imaging innovations […]
Fujifilm recently released Synapse VNA version 7.5, and with it, introduced a new, innovative feature called Native Cloud Tiering. Healthcare organizations are rapidlyexiting the datacenter business for a number of […]
An estimated 3 million people live in suburban Long Island, yet there are only a handful of diagnostic imaging centers offering open MRI—a modality in high demand, especially for claustrophobic and elderly patients. Now, one Long Island facility is raising the bar on MRI with its recent installation of two next-generation systems from Fujifilm, including one with an open design.
The dawn of artificial intelligence (AI) in gastrointestinal endoscopy is here, with several systems now FDA-cleared for colon polyp detection support, plus additional functions already available in other global regions […]
The recent release of Synapse® PACS version 7.4 introduced Fujifilm’s Viewer eXtension (VX); an elective, native application designed to deliver the most optimal Synapse user experience anywhere. In this Q&A, Fujifilm Senior […]

The image quality is excellent, the technology is very easy to use, and the patients really like the speed as well as the comfort. They like that they can get in and out in just a few minutes… [The ASPIRE Cristalle with DBT] makes me more confident as a radiologist.
The cesium detectors in Fujifilm’s FDR Go DR system helped the hospital achieve dose reductions of more than 50% over computed radiography techniques with equivalent or improved image quality
We have actually reduced radiation by 40 percent compared with CR. Wayne Couture, Director of Imaging and Cardiopulmonary Services at Androscoggin Valley Hospital.
After checking various vendors, the hospital eventually went with the FDR Go from FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation. We were pleasantly surprised that our biggest [dose] reduction was from FDR Go.
It was taking us from 15 to 30 minutes, with an average of 21 minutes to do CR for scoliosis images. Once the technologists became comfortable working with the new detector, we got it down to six minutes [with the FDR D-EVO GL]– Ernest M. Chavez, Director of Radiology at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
Workflow has greatly improved for our physicians. Our NICU doctors, for example, used to have to wait until the technologist processed each cassette before it could hit our PACS just to see the images. Now, doctors see the images right away.
Our emergency physicians and surgeons require a durable, easy to use, portable unit that delivers the highest level of imaging to make the right treatment decisions quickly and safely, there is no room for compromises.
Fujifilm has been very helpful in supporting our software development and in configuring the devices. Capt. Jerry Thomas MS, DABR, CHP, DABSNM, Via Christi Health’s Hospitals in Wichita, Kansas.
Kari Kunze, Radiology Supervisor at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, knew that bringing Mobile DR into the NICU could change the quality of Children’s* neonate care. In 2012 Children’s implemented the FDR D-EVO 24x30cm DR detector from FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation The positive reaction from Children’s physicians was instantaneous as the detector immediately distinguished itself in terms of image quality.
