Health system installs Synapse VNA and Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer

LEXINGTON, Mass., October 2, 2019 FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of Enterprise Imaging and Medical Informatics solutions, and part of the Fujifilm Healthcare portfolio, today announced that WakeMed Health and Hospitals has invested in Fujifilm’s Synapse® VNA and Synapse® Mobility Enterprise Viewer to advance greater care quality and empower real-time collaboration. Both solutions are key components of the company’s robust Enterprise Imaging Portfolio.

“Fujifilm is thrilled to welcome WakeMed Health and Hospitals to experience our Enterprise Imaging innovations and to show how our solutions support their commitment to delivering the highest quality patient care,” said Greg Strowig, Vice President of the TeraMedica Division of FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “Fujifilm’s best of breed Synapse VNA and Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer were designed to drive operational efficiency across the care continuum—delivering true interoperability and secure access to patient records to enable real-time collaborative care.”

At the core of Fujifilm's comprehensive Enterprise Imaging portfolio, the patented Synapse VNA is an industry leader in the vendor-neutral archive market, integrating more specialties, more devices, and more data than any other VNA on the market. By securely managing and sharing all departmental data, Synapse VNA allows healthcare organizations to optimize workflows, achieve cost savings, and drive better patient care. Through true imaging interoperability, Synapse VNA allows healthcare facilities to see the whole patient so they can treat the whole patient.

Fujifilm’s Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer utilizes the latest server-side rendering technology, allowing authorized users to securely and quickly view all patient imaging data without the risk of downloading any patient data locally. The viewer can be accessed via web browsers, mobile devices, iOS clients and can be launched directly from an EHR or other portal. The unique collaboration feature for DICOM and non-DICOM datasets uses real time audio/video capabilities for live conferencing, and a Share feature to exchange images or launch into other 3rd party integrations.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals (WakeMed) is a nationally recognized, private, not-for-profit healthcare organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina. This 919-bed health system comprises a network of facilities including three full-service hospitals, and is the largest health system in the state’s largest county. WakeMed faced challenges associated with disparate image capture systems across its large enterprise, and needed a solution for its multitude of physician groups who needed seamless access to pertinent patient data. Ultimately, WakeMed tapped Fujifilm’s trusted expertise to achieve interoperability throughout the health system. The organization installed Synapse VNA and Synapse Mobility Enterprise Viewer to help create a central repository for all patient data from both DICOM and non-DICOM imaging departments.

“Fujifilm is proud to be the Enterprise Imaging partner of choice for so many reputable healthcare institutions, and most recently for the prestigious WakeMed Health & Hospitals,” said Bill Lacy, Vice President, Medical Informatics at FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “We look forward to supporting WakeMed in every possible way so that they can maximize the operational and clinical benefits of our Synapse technology.”
