Keeping on top of changing clinical trends is what keeps Fujifilm innovating. Consider endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). EUS has evolved from a strictly diagnostic modality into a powerful therapeutic tool in interventional gastroenterology. Today, therapeutic EUS is being utilized to drain fluid collections, place stents, treat tumors, create new connections between organs, and much more.
In fact, experts say therapeutic EUS has experienced exponential growth in the last decade. At Fujifilm, we saw it coming. You could say we were ahead of the curve—launching a curved linear EUS scope back in 2022, the Fujifilm EG-740UT. We recognized that clinicians wanted minimally invasive ways to not only diagnose but also treat conditions within the digestive tract and nearby organs. So, we designed an EUS scope with emerging clinical needs in mind.

The EG-740UT is Fujifilm’s premium EUS scope built for both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound procedures in the upper digestive tract—the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. When utilized in combination with the FUJIFILM Arietta 850 EUS Processor, the EG-740UT provides an exceptional level of image clarity at full tissue depth.
No doubt, the right technology is helping to broaden therapeutic applications of EUS. Here’s how a recent article in the Journal of Clinical Medicine puts it:
“Ongoing innovations in clinical practice have transformed procedures such as drainage, tumor ablation, EUS-directed transgastric endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), the placement of fiducial markers, advancements in endohepatology, lesion characterization, and treatment. These developments continue to expand the role of EUS in delivering precise and effective therapeutic interventions.”
We’re proud that Fujifilm’s EG-740UT scope is helping to advance therapeutic EUS. Unlike any other EUS scope on the market, the EG-740UT is the only scope with a single crystal transducer combined with a camera position behind the working channel with a 40-degree angle of view, making the EG-740UT to most forward-viewing EUS scope in the US market.

Presently, the EG-740UT is being used for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and applications. Experts like Andy Storm, M.D., director of endoscopy, Mayo Clinic, Rochester agree that the trend is clear: Therapeutic EUS is cementing its role in clinical practice and radically changing the treatment of numerous diseases and conditions.
Dr. Storm recently presented a summary of select cases using Fujifilm’s EG-740UT scope. During his presentation, he highlighted how this technology offers a variety of excellent usability features including ideal camera view, a large 4.0mm working channel, and Fujifilm G-Lock Plus elevator locking mechanism.
The treatment of obesity is another area where therapeutic EUS and Fujifilm’s EG-740UT scope are making a difference. In addition to traditional endobariatric applications, the rapidly expanding field of endohepatology integrates advanced endoscopic procedures to diagnose, stage and monitor liver disease—a common complication of obesity.

Clinicians like Jennifer Phan, M.D., medical director, Hoag Irvine Advanced Endoscopy Center are performing an array of procedures with our EG-740UT scope like EUS-guided liver biopsy, EUS-guided portal pressure measurement, and endoscopic treatment of gastric varices.
During a recent industry event, Dr. Phan discussed primary bariatric endoscopy surgeries, potential complications, solutions, techniques, and the role Fujifilm’s portfolio, including the Arietta 850 EUS Processor and 700 Series Linear Scope, plays in these procedures.
Staying ahead of the curve—by anticipating trends and recognizing emerging clinical needs—is a hallmark of Fujifilm. It’s what drives our spirit of innovation, so that clinicians have best-of-breed technology to push the boundaries of the field and deliver the best possible patient care.
