ASGE Advanced Endoscopy Fellows Course

September 22 @ 7:45 am - September 23 @ 12:00 pm

This program is an educational opportunity to learn from leaders in the field of advanced endoscopy. It is designed for those who are enrolled as an advanced interventional endoscopy fellow or who are interested in pursuing this option. Advanced endoscopy has become a popular career choice with a growing number of applicants. Dedicated third-tier AE fellowships (AEF) originated in the 1980s and initially focused on teaching diagnostic ERCP. However, the field of AE has grown to encompass many techniques, including ERCP, diagnostic EUS, EUS-guided drainage procedures, cholangiopancreatoscopy, enteral stenting, small-bowel enteroscopy, and EMR and ablation. It is also growing into third spacing, ESD and POEM. These procedures are technically demanding and require a special skill set, and the need for a dedicated year in AE is now apparent. AEF allow trainees to develop the skill sets that are necessary for research and practice in therapeutic endoscopy.
